Publish Reports from CV9 to CV Online

CV Online report configuration is handled through the ClearVantage desktop application, following the steps below.

Making Reports Available in the CV Online Reports Menu

  1. Open CV Information Central and create a root folder (child of only the Info Central folder) named "Elements Reports"

  2. In Elements Reports, create a subfolder named "_ALL". This folder will hold reports that should be visible to all CV Online users.

  3. Optionally, in Elements Reports, you may also create subfolders for each chapter where you may place reports that should be visible only to users with that chapter assignment. These folders should be given the same name as the chapter code.

  4. In each folder, create reports as desired by creating copies of reports that you wish to be made available in CV Online.

  5. After creating each report, right click on the report and go to the Advanced tab.

    1. Make a choice from the dropdown. This will set the Security Code value for that report which in turn determines which report menu item the report is associated with (i.e. Membership Reports, Event Reports, etc.)

    2. In order to run reports that return data directly with no layout, manually select a value of 90 in this field. This will make the report appear in the "Exports" folder of the reports menu. When run, the report will generate a CSV file containing the returned data that will be viewable in spreadsheet applications such as Excel.

  6. After creating report in correct folder, right click on the report and select the "Subscribe Users" option

    1. Selecting "Add for ALL Users" will add the "(ALL)" value to the UserCD list, this will enable for all users

    2. If you do not want report available to all users, remove (ALL) and add users as desired, then save changes

    3. Only reports IN APPROVED FOLDER (_All or chapter) and SUBSCRIBED ((ALL) or user) will appear for that user (and function) on CV Online

  7. Once the report has been subscribed to the desired users, it should flow through to CV Online. When logged in as a subscribed user, refresh CV Online. The report should now show up in the designated subfolder of the Reports menu on the main toolbar.

Making System Reports Available in CV Online Notebooks and Lists

System reports are configured in CV Information Central similar to the reports that will appear in the CV Online Reports menu, however instead of creating a copy of the report in a central folder, you can individually flag system reports that you would like to flow through to CV Online. A report flagged in this way will appear in the corresponding list or notebook in CV Online.

To control which system reports are available in CV Online, set a report's Security Code to a value between 1 and 9. Security Code can be set in CV Information Central for a given system report by right-clicking and selecting "Properties", then setting a value on the "Advanced" tab.

As before, report availability will also be controlled by the users that are subscribed to the report. Once the report has been subscribed to the desired users, it should flow through to CV Online. When logged in as a subscribed user, refresh CV Online. The report should now show up in the "Reports" pane of the activity panel for the relevant notebook or list. For the Individual and Organization notebooks, if these are configured to use mega-menu style activity panels, the reports will appear in the "Reports" mega-menu dropdown.
